Useful software
for real-world problems.

I build tools I wish already existed — usually because I ran into a problem, found the existing options frustrating, and decided there had to be a better way.

Selected work

Real projects. Real problems. Working software.

PROJECT 02 · RADIO

Signal Scout

What can I hear here, right now?

Signal Scout is built for the person actually sitting beside a radio and turning the dial. It combines location, time, frequency, transmitter information, and reception scoring to show what is probably on the air — and what you have a realistic chance of hearing.

  • Shortwave / MW / LW
  • Ham-band guidance
  • Reception scoring
  • Frequency lookup
  • Transmitter details
  • Remote SDR options

PROJECT 03 · LOCAL SPORTS

LocalBleachersAR

Find the crowd. Join the game.

Arkansas high-school and college sports schedules are scattered across school sites, athletics pages, ticket systems, and social media. LocalBleachersAR brings the useful pieces together so you can find games near you and quickly figure out where to go and who is playing.

  • Location & radius search
  • Date / level filters
  • Follow schools
  • Schedules
  • Records & standings
  • Directions & tickets

PROJECT 04 · COMPANION APP

OT0 Companion

The reference I wanted beside the game.

An offline-friendly companion for Octopath Traveler 0. It is a smaller project, but it represents the same idea as the others: if information is awkward to find while you are actually doing something, put it in a tool that makes the experience easier.

Why I build

Most projects start with one sentence: “Why is this so damn hard?”

01

Find the friction

A tool is missing, cluttered, misleading, or technically complete while still being painful to use.

02

Understand the problem

Find the data. Learn the domain. Test assumptions. Separate what is useful from what is merely available.

03

Build and keep refining

Turn the idea into working software, use it for the real task, notice what still sucks, and fix that next.

The development model

AI-assisted.
Human-directed.

I use AI heavily in development. It helps me research unfamiliar technical territory, write and review code, debug failures, explore UI ideas, inspect data, and move from an idea to a working implementation much faster.

But AI is not the product owner. I define the problem, decide what the application should do, choose which data is trustworthy, test the result, reject bad implementations, and keep pushing until the tool works the way I actually need it to work.

AI makes it practical for one curious person to build software that used to require a much larger team.

03

Under the hood

Data analyst by trade. Builder because I can't leave a useful idea alone.

My projects usually begin with data: what exists, what can be trusted, and how do you turn it into something a normal person can actually use?

Methvin Digital Works is where those ideas become working apps — weather, radio, local sports, gaming, and whatever problem is interesting enough to solve next.
